The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) is yet to receive any documents in the case filed against former Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) Vice-President (VP) Nurul Haque Nur under the Digital Security Act (DSA).
PBI Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Banaj Kumar Majumder confirmed the matter on Thursday.
He said that PBI came to know of the case against
VP Nur from the media, but has not received any official documents on it.
“We hope to receive the documents today, or by Sunday at the latest,” said the PBI chief.
“Once we get the documents, we will assign a senior female officer to investigate the case properly,” he added.
The case was filed against Nur for calling a Dhaka University (DU) student “characterless” in a Facebook live on Sunday.
The student, who had earlier accused him of abetting in her rape, lodged the lawsuit against Nur with the Cyber Tribunal Judge Md As-Shams Jaglul Hossain in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The court directed PBI to investigate the case and submit an investigation report on November 29.
