The High Court (HC) on Tuesday ordered the government to compensate Tk one lakh to the families of four children who died in road crashes recently. Home Secretary, Communication Secretary and Chairman of BRTA have been asked to comply with the order within 15 days. It also issued a rule asking the government as to why it should not be directed to pay Tk 50 lakh as compensation to the victims’ families. The High Court Bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Razik-Al-Jalil passed the order and issued a rule following a writ petition filed by Rights Organisations Children’s Charity Foundation of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Legal Aid Services Trust (BLAST).
