Patrons, financiers of militants to be traced out: Minister

Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan said that those who have been sheltering and financing the militants would be traced out.
“Investigation is going on regarding the persons who have been sheltering and financing the militants and the sources of their arms supply and who are backing them from behind the scene to launch militant attacks,” he said.
The minister said this on Thursday while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion on the “Role of the media in resisting the militancy” organised by the Association for Law and Human Rights at the Conference Hall of Dhaka Reporters Unity at Segunbagicha in the city.
President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Manjurul Ahsan Khan Bulbul, former Secretary General of Dhaka Union of Journalist (DUJ) Kuddus Afrad, Secretary General of International War Crimes Mass Trail Movement Kamal Pasha Chowdhury, Advocate Hasna Begum and General Secretary of Dhaka Reporters Unity Raju Ahmed took part in deliberations on the topic.
The minister said, “The media has a vital role in containing militancy. Not only the media, all have to play their role for the purpose and with united efforts militancy can be contained. People irrespective of class and profession have to get united to get rid of the menace.”
Shajahan Khan said, “The move behind emergence of militancy in the country was to save the war criminals. It was a move of the BNP-Jamaat combine. They want to save the war criminals. But the war criminals are being tried in Bangladesh. No compromise on the issue of militancy and war criminals. The BNP-Jamaat won’t be able to save them.”
