Patient dies of ‘wrong treatment’ Locals, relatives wreck hospital

Sylhet residents and relatives of a patient who died because of alleged wrong treatment vandalised a private hospital in the city on Thursday night.
The dead was Liza Begum of Bodikona village in Sylhet.
Meanwhile, the hospital authorities formed a three-member committee to investigate the allegation. The authorities also suspended three people including a doctor in this regard.
Liza’s family members claimed that they admitted Liza to Diabetik Hospital in Puranlen area on Thursday afternoon.
Liza’s sister, alleged, ‘In the beginning, Liza’s condition was improving after he was administered some medicine. Later, his condition deteriorated rapidly after a nurse injected him with something.’
Liza was rushed to ICU and he died there, said the sister, adding that at first, the doctors kept the fact that Liza died hidden. As the news spread, around a hundred people vandalised the hospital building. On information, SMP police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. A GD was filed in this regard.  
‘We have also formed a three-member committee to investigate the incident,’ said Maj A Z Mahbub Ahmed principal of the Hospital, Friday. The committee has been asked to submit a report within three days.
