Patenga Beach declared as permanent Durga immersion spot

Chattogram City Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin has declared Patenga Sea Beach as a permanent Durga immersion spot of the city where every facilities for devouts and tourists will be available from next year.
He disclosed it while addressing the idol immersion ceremony at Patenga on Friday as Chief Guest.
 He said a permanent immersiion ghat having 100 feet breadth will be built with the cooperation of Mohanagar Puja Committee from next year. He further said Durga puja is a greatest religious function of the Hindu community but it is a social festival for all .
Puja Udjapon Parishad President Advocate Chandan Kumar Talukder presided over the immersion ceremony there duly attended by Officer -In-Charge of Patenga thana, and the local councilors .
Rohingya Hindus celebrate Durga Puja: The authorities have made arrangements at the shelter camp for the Rohingya Hindu community at Kutupalong in the district’s Ukhia upazila for observance of the Durga Puja in a festive environment.
The religious festival began across the country on 14th October and ended on Friday.
People from Hindu community living in different villages under Mongdu district of neighbouring Myanmar for generations entered Bangladesh after August 2 last year and took shelter at Kutupalong.
A total of 450 men, women and children from 120 Hindu families are now living at a camp built exclusively for the community.
With the financial assistance from the District Administration, a puja mandop has been set up at the camp of the Rohingya Hindus, said Ukhia Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nikaruzzaman Chowdhury.
