Jessore Correspondent :
Outgoing and incoming passengers are being harassed at international passengers’ terminal at Benapole Land Port, passengers alleged.
Passengers are not providing international standard facilities at the terminal against Tk 40 as entry fee, they alleged.
The ruling government constructed the terminal to facilitate passengers who travel to and from India using the country’s largest land port Benapole. But positive initiative of the government turned into negative due to corruption of some concerned people.
Foundation stone of the terminal was laid on 15 January 2011 and the building was inaugurated on august 23, 2013 but passengers were allowed to enter the terminal from 3rd June, 2017.
Kamrul Hasan, employee of the terminal told that the terminal charge was fixed at Tk 38.76 by the authority. ‘We charge Tk 40 to every passenger to avoid hassle,’ he added.
There no modern facilities except some chairs and washroom facilities, passengers told.
