Passengers assured of mitigating sufferings of rail passengers

Bangladesh Railway authority has increased the train fare by 100% of the existing fare two years ago with commitment of increased passengers facilities but in practical no improvement is sighted as yet in railway service. On this context, Chief commercial Manager of East Zone railway are facing the mass hearing of the passengers at Chittagong Railway Station yesterday afternoon as directed by the Prime Minister.
The Railway Manager gave patient hearing to the allegations and proposals of the passengers during mass hearing and assured them for resolving their grievances. In the mass hearing, the passengers blamed the railway authority for not providing the desired facilities in rail service though the fare has been increased by double rate. The said, the sitting conditions in all types of train are deplorable and dirty of seat covers and uncleaned compartment floor and toilets.
Leader of the Passenger Welfare Parishad Mozzamel Hossain alleged that the condition of catering ser vice in train is not upto the mark and higher prices beyond buying capacity. He said the passengers are being deceived by offering low quality foods with higher price.
A passenger blamed that tickets are not available in the counter but tickets are available outside the counter with higher prices.
Commercial Manager assured the passengers for mitigating their complaints within the short time. During mass hearing, Station Manger Abul Kalam Azad, Station Master Mahbubur Rahman and senior officials of commercial department were present in it among others.
