Papia, Sumon put on 15-day remand again

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday placed Jubo Mohila League’s expelled leader Shamima Nur Papia and her husband Mofizur Rahman Sumon on 15 days remand each in three cases.
Magistrate Md Sarafuzzaman Ansary of the CMM Court passed the orders. The couple was placed on 10 days’ remand in two cases filed with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station under the Special Power Act and the Arms Act on February 24. Besides, another court of Magistrate Debbrata Biswas granted five-day remand for them in another case filed with Bimanbandar Police Station under the Special Power Act on February 23.
Papia and her husband Sumon were produced in the court with 30 days’ remand prayer for each in the three cases yesterday noon.
During the hearing, there was no defence or prosecution lawyers in the courtroom.
On February 22, a team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested them from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) of Dhaka.
