Staff Reporter :
People rushed for panic buying at different markets in the capital on Saturday following two ministers’ announcement of seven-day lockdown across the country to curb the spread of Covid-19.
The crowd in the market started to increase after 2.00pm. From noon to afternoon, three largest markets in the capital–Mohammadpur Town Hall, Hatirpul and Karwan Bazaar saw a huge crowd of shoppers. Most people were buying the necessities like rice, pulses, oil, onion, and potatoes.
Traders said there is usually no such crowd at noon. After hearing the news of the lockdown, the customers are coming to the market to buy the necessary items.
