Palestine names a Hebron city street after Bangabandhu

Palestine has named a street in Hebron city after Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Palestinian Foreign Minister Dr. Riyad Al-Malki formally disclosed this while Bangladesh Ambassador in Jordan Nahida Sobhan called on him at Palestine embassy in Amman on Tuesday. “The decision of naming a Palestinian city stree after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was announced at the 18th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in 2019,” said the Palestinian minister during the meeting with Bangladesh envoy. The NAM summit was held on October 25-26 in 2019 in Baku, Azerbaijan. The summit was attended by the delegation from more than 120 countries.
During the meeting, the Ambassador has reiterated Bangladesh’s support for the Palestine. “The moral support of Bangladesh for the Palestinian nation remains intact till today since the address delivered by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the United Nations in 1974,” the Bangladesh envoy told the meeting. Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is still belonging that moral support for the Palestine state, said Nahida Sobhan. The Bangladesh ambassador also informed the Palestinian leader about various successes of Bangladesh and development which have been acclaimed internationally under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The Palestinian minister has lauded the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for significant economic progress of Bangladesh amid the Corona pandemic as most of the countries in the world are facing economic depression during this time. Recalling the friendly relations between Bangabandhu and Palestinian leader Yasir Arafat, Dr Malki said, “Our deceased leader appreciated Bangabandhu for his generous support for the Palestinian nation.” He also expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her kind support and cooperation. “The generosity of Bangladesh Prime Minister towards the Palestinian people is possible only for such a great and humanitarian leader,” he said.
The Palestinian foreign minister also said that the Palestinian government has started the publication of the second edition of the Arabic translation of Bangabandhu’s autobiography ‘ Asampto Attojiboni’.
