Palestine envoy makes farewell call on PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has reaffirmed Bangladesh’s total commitment and support to the just cause of the Palestine and its people.
She said this when outgoing Palestinian Ambassador to Bangladesh Shaher M H Abuiyyadeh made a courtesy call on the Prime Minister at her here office on Thursday.
Briefing reporters after the call on, Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Ihsanul Karim said Sheikh Hasina put emphasis on united efforts to convey the messages of peace of Islam.
Bangladesh espouses tolerance, and moderation in all aspects of Bangladeshi society as enshrined in the religion, she told the envoy.
Sheikh Hasina said Father of Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, as a freedom loving leader, always supported the liberation war of the Palestinians.
Referring to silence of various human rights organisations after indiscriminate killings of Palestinian women and children by Israeli force, the Prime Minister said she raised voice against the heinous attacks.
In this context, she said Bangladesh condemns all forms of extremism and state terrorism.
The outgoing Palestine Ambassador expressed gratitude for Bangladesh’s support to the cause of the Palestinians. He recalled that many Palestinians named their new born children as “Mujibur’ as a mark of respect to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman when he was in Pakistani jail in 1971.
He also expressed gratitude for extending all sort of cooperation to him during his service in Bangladesh.
Among others, Principal Secretary Md Abul Kalam Azad was present.
