Pakistan finished third in the Asia Cup Twenty20 defeating Sri Lanka by six wickets in their last League match at the flood-lit Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Friday.
Sent into bat first, Sri Lanka piled up a healthy total of 150 for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
In reply, Pakistan coasted home making 151 for the loss of four wickets when they had four balls to spare.
Umar Akmal top-scored with 48. He hit four fours and two sixes in his 37-ball innings.
Sarfraz Ahmed notched up 38 from 27 balls featuring six fours while Sharjeel Khan made 31 from 24 balls hitting five fours and a sixer.
Shoaib Malik remained unbeaten with 13.
Kulaskera, Dilshan, Siriwardana and Jayasuriya took one wicket apiece.
Sri Lanka made a formidable start with Dinesh Chandimal and TM Dilshan, the two openers of the islanders put on together 110 runs in the opening stand before Chandimal was caught at the mid-wicket by Sharjeel Khan off Wahab Riaz.
After dismissal of Chandimal, Sri Lanka failed to build any notable partnership.
TM Dilshan remained unbeaten with 75. He hit 10 fours and a sixer in his 56-ball innings.
Dinesh Chandimal hit a captain’s knock of 58. He struck seven fours and a six in his 49-ball innings.
Mohammad Irfan bagged a pair of wickets at the cost of 18 runs.
Shoaib Malik and Wahab Riaz took one wicket each for three and 30 runs.
