WP dissident opens national confe in Jashore

Dissidents of Workers Party of Bangladesh have kicked off a successful national conference at Munshi Meherullah Maidan in Jashore town on Friday. The conference ended on Saturday. Delegates from several districts took part the conference. Narayan Basu inaugurated the conference at noon where Iqbal Kabir Jahid, former polit buro member of WP focused the mission of the conference. Chaired by Nurul Hasan, inaugural session was attended among others by former general secretary of WP, Bimal Biswas, Monoj Saha, president of Communist Party of Bangladesh, Mujahidul Islam Selim, general secretary of Biplabi Workers Party, Saiful Haque, general secretary of United Communist League of Bangladesh, Mosharraf Hossain Nannu, acting general secretary of United National Awami Party, Harunar Rashid and Ganatantrik Biplabi party leader Liakat Ali. The leaders, in the conference, urged all the left leaning parties to gather under a single umbrella.
Three ‘smugglers’ detained in Jhenaidah
Jhenaidah:Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained three suspected smugglers with 48 bottles of phensedyl from Kushumpur area of Moheshpur upazila on Friday night. The arrestees are Md Russel Mia, 35, son of Md Robbul Islam, of Horiharnagar village in Jibonnagar upazila, Md Raju, son of Md Azizul of Bonipur village and Md Saidul, 33, son of Lakkhipur village, according to a BGB press release. Acting on a tip-off, BGB men conducted a drive and arrested the trio from the area around 8pm, said Kamrul Hasan, additional director of Moheshpur BGB-58 battalion, reports UNB.
Driver electrocuted in Bhola
BHOLA: The driver of a three-wheeler vehicle died and another was injured after being electrocuted in Mollah Bridge area of the town on Saturday day. The deceased was identified as Md Mahbub, 30, a resident of the municipality.Police said Mahbub was electrocuted when he was charging the battery of his three-wheeler this noon. The other person was electrocuted as he tried to save Mahbub. Both of them were rushed to Bhola Sadar Hospital, where the duty doctors declared Mahbub dead. Officer-in-Charge of Bhola Model Thana Enayet Hossain confirmed the Incident, reports BSS.
Training on linseed farming held in Jamalpur
JAMALPUR: A day-long training on “Linseed Cultivation was held at Jamalpur Regional Agriculture Research Station (RARS) on Tuesday. Director, Oilseed Research Center, Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute, Dr Dil Afrosa Khanom formally inaugurated the training as chief guest. A total of 60 farmers of Jamalpur Sadar and Islampur Upazila of the district took part in the training held under the programme ‘Research and Development of Minor oil Crops” (Soyabean, sunflower and linseed)’, held at RARS conference room. Chief Scientific Officer, RASR, Jamalpur, Dr Md Tariqul Islam presided over the inaugural function. Programme Director, Research and Development of Minor oil crops (Soyabean, sunflower and linseed) Dr Md Mubarak Ali and Principal Scientific Officer, RARS, Dr Mohammad Manjurul Kadir imparted training highlighting linseed cultivation and its consumption to the farmers. Later, Dr Dil Afrosa Khanom disbursed linseed among the participants free of cost, reports BSS.
