Chittagong Bureau :

Chairman of the Chittagong Port Authority(CPA) Rear Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed said the importance of the main harbor of the country-Chittagong Port will not be hampered anymore if the 3rd seaport Paira Bander is established.
He said the country’s economy will be more strengthened if number of port are there. He also said the pressure of import and exports beyond control through one port.
The rumors of the minimizing the importance of Ctg port through installing Paira Bandar is unlogical and unjustified. He disclosed it while exchanging views with the mediamen on Monday on increase of imports and exports and the 50 billion US dollar target from RMG exports by 2021 and the handling capacity of CP by that period.
CPA chairman further said 90% imports and export are handled through CP but only 10% is done by Mongla Port , so there is a necessity of another seaport. He further informed that the NCT terminal will begin in fullswing from October 17 next and yard capacity increased for 45000 TUEs containers.
He further said Bay Terminal at Patenga will be built very shortly and project proposal is under process.
