Pahela Boishakh celebrated at RU amid festivity

Pahela Boishakh, the first day of Bangla New Year was celebrated at Rajshahi University (RU) through age-old traditional events and custom. The programmes included colorful rally, Boishakhi fair, Chaittrasankranti, music soiree, rendering of folk songs, discussion, art and painting competition and recitation of poems.
The whole university wore in a festive look as most of the departments of the university chalked out elaborate programmes separately at a lot of places of the campus.
The university authorities led by RU vice chancellor Prof Muhammad Mizanuddin brought out a colorful procession on the campus from the university Teachers-Students Cultural Centre (TSCC) premises at 9:30am with decorative replicas of animals as well as elements of Bengali culture.
An air of festivity was felt around Fine Arts Department of the university. The department also held a two-day Boishakhi Fair featuring art and rafts exhibition and cultural programmes including Ghambhira at Charu Chattar.
Rajshahi University Career Club (RUCC), a voluntary career oriented organization on campus also arranged different traditional programmes for marking the day. Law Department brought out a colorful procession on the campus. They also arranged different cultural events including drama, music soiree and gambhira.
Besides, management Department, Mass Communication and Journalism Department, Drama and Music Department, Folklore Department, Anthropology Department, Bangla Department and different voluntary organizations of the university arranged different traditional programmes to celebrate the day.
