Tourism industry faces set back: Owners, employees demand to open tourist spots in the Sundarbans, Mongla

Under the auspices of the owners and employees of tourism industries based in Momgla along with Sundarbans, a human chain was formed at the local Mamar Ghat area on the bank of the river Mongla under Mongla Pourashava in Bagerhat district on Monday demanding the opening of all the tourist spots of Sundarbans to the visitors. Several hundred owners and employees of a good number of water vessels involved in the tourism trading participated in the human chain. All the speakers assured the government that they would conduct the tourism business abide by the health-rules introduced by the Govt. during the corona pandemic in the country.
They added, forest department imposed ban on the entrance of both visitors and water vessels in Sundarbans in the month of March, 2020 just with the outbreak of corona in the country.
As a result, about 5 thousand owners and employees of 50 launches, 300 small mechanized boats and 150 trawlers in the tourism industries and trading became unemployed. Consequently, they have been living substandard (miserable) life for more than 6 months.
Those who are associated with tourism industry and trading based on Sundarbans urged upon the forest department, the concerned ministry and the Primer Minister of the country through the human chain to intervene into the affair. They also told through the human chain, by this time different tourist spots of the country were already opened for the visitors excepting those of Sundarbans.
The speakers once again requested all the concerned authorities to open the tourist spots of Sundarbans for the visitors without any delay; otherwise they would become completely destitute. On the other hand, the forest department will have to loss a huge amount of revenue.
