The distribution of free textbooks among school and madrasa students began in the city and its adjacent areas of the district yesterday. Deputy Commissioner of Chattogram Mohammad Ilias Hossain inaugurated the book distribution function and handover of new books among students at Dr Khastagir Government High School in city’s Jamal Khan area around 11am.
Speaking at the function joined by hundreds of students Ilias Hossain said it is the New Year gift of the government for the students. He said over two crore textbooks for the students of primary and secondary schools, Ebatedai and Dakhil madrasas and technical institutes were being distributed in Chattogram city and district yesterday.
Over 48 lakh crore copies of primary school books and 1.52 lakh copies secondary books were distributed among 22 lakh students in the city and district. District Primary Education officer Nasrine Sultana and high officials of district administration and secondary levels among others were present in the book distribution function.
Another reports adds: Parents Care School and College at Chowkbazar in the port city distributed govt supplied text books among the students of the students of different classes free of cost as directed by the education friendly govt of Sheikh Hasina.
Ward councilor o f CCC Golam Haider Minto was present in it as Chief Guest. Among others Chairman of Chattogram Education Welfare Foundation Principal Dr. Abdul Karim. Principal Dr Jaharlal Bhattachariya, Dr Khalid Bin Kabir Bhuyia, Principal of the Parents school Md Nurul Islam and Admin officer MA Fazal were present as special guests in it. During distribution of books, students, guardians and teachers of the school were present .
The Chief Guest Golam Haider Minto and the Chairman of CEWF Principal Dr. Karim emphasised the need of education for building a prosperous country and students urged to devote themselves for building future career through proper education.
