Over Tk 38cr for hygienic sanitation in Jamalpur

Construction works of 476 wash blocks are progressing fast by spending Taka 38 crore 8 lakh in different primary schools under seven upazilas of the district.
Public Health and Engineering Department (PHED) is implementing the project to provide improved sanitation facility to the students of primary schools.
PHED office sources said of the total, 244 wash blocks for female students and 232 wash blocks for male students.
Each of the female wash blocks having three toilets including a toilet for disabled students and hand wash basin in a room. On the other hand, each male wash block having three toilets of which one for disabled student, hand wash basin and a urinal in a room.
Of the total wash blocks, 111 in Sadar, 77 in Melandaha, 68 in Madarganj,66 in Dewanganj, 59 in Islampur, 59 in Sarishabari and 36 in Bakshiganj upazilas are being constructed.
The aim of setting up the wash blocks is to provide safe and hygienic sanitation facility to the primary school students. The work of setting up the wash blocks will be completed by June next, official of PHED said.
