The government distributed over 841 tonnes of rice under the vulnerable group feeding (VGF) programme among 84,157 poor families of five upazilas in the district on the occasion of the upcoming holy Eid-ul-Azha.
District relief and rehabilitation office sources said each VGF card holder family got 10-kg of rice.
Under the programme, 641.320 tonnes of VGF rice was distributed among 64,132 families in 32 unions of five upazilas and over 200 tonnes of rice among 20,025 families in five municipalities in the district, said the district relief and rehabilitation officer.
