The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has so far provided interest free loans to more than 600 Supreme Court lawyers with the SCBA ranks so that they can face the ongoing financial crisis caused by the coronavirus outbreak.
The lawyers have been given Tk 30,000 to Tk 75,000 through their respective bank accounts and cheques in accordance with the tenures of their membership of the SCBA, the association’s President, Advocate AM Amin Uddin, said.
More than 2,000 lawyers, who have applied for, will be given the loan and disbursements of the loan will be completed by the next week, he added.
Replying to a question, the SCBA President said that around Tk 10 crore be needed to provide the loan to all the applicant members of the SCBA.
SCBA’s Superintendent Nimesh Chandra Das said that around 3,000 applications had come from the SC lawyers to the SCBA office for loan.
