Cop-BNP clash: Over 100 sued, injured Kamal shifted to Dhaka

Two cases have been filed with Kotwali police station in connection with Wednesday’s incident on Mujib Sarak in front of Jessore Press Club by the Kotwali police.
Seriously wounded bullet-hit innocent Kamal Hossain was shifted to Dhaka on Wednesday night as his condition was going to be deteriorated, confirmed Dr NK Khan, Associate Professor, Jessore Medical College.
At least 20 people including five journalists were wounded, four of them with bullet, as the police and 20-party men locked in clashes after the arrest of Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, General Secretary, Jessore district unit BNP and some others. The police picked up 8 from the spot and swooped on innocent people firing over 20 rounds of gun shots leaving innocent shop employee Kamal seriously wounded.
Sub inspector Mahbub, duty officer, Kotwali police station told The New Nation that about 127 people were sued in connection with Wednesday’s incident. He, however, failed to give details about the case. While phoned to the officer in-charge, the said sub inspector received the cell phone.
Tariqul Islam, standing committee member, BNP in a press conference held at Jessore Press Club on Thursday told that the police swooped on his party men while they were trying to hold an innocent programme like human chain in protest against the obscene comment of minister Abdul Latif Siddique.
