After a long stalemate, it is finally going to cut the barrier of gas connection to the residential houses through the pipeline. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has already given her consent in this regard. All in all, after some internal process, approval may be given for providing new gas connection in Chattogram region next month. If all goes well, new gas connections will be provided within the next three months. Meanwhile, Chattogram -based Karnafuli Gas has sent a proposal to the ministry to install 2 lakh prepaid gas meters.
It is learned that the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources has already sought some information about the new gas connection.
After receiving the information, approval for new gas connection may be given next month .
If everything goes well at the end of the various processes, including the call for tenders, the new gas connection may start by next March.
Six state owned companies distribute gas across the country. These are Karnafuli, Titas, Western Region, Jalalabad, Bakhrabad and Sundarbans.25,000 applicants of Cattogram have submitted to Karnafuli Gas Distribution Company.
Although they applied in Chattogram about four years ago, these 25,000 customers did not get gas connection in the extended stove including residential connection. With this, under the banner of KGDCL Contractors and Consumers Kaylan Parishad launched different, programs like human chain, sit-in progam, strike etc. have been observed at different times previously.
