Outgoing Ambassador of the Netherlands to Bangladesh Gerben de Jong made a farewell call on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban on Monday.
During the meeting, the President said there is ample scope for expanding trade relations between the two countries, and the Netherlands can take medicine, ceramic products and readymade garments from Bangladesh, President’s press secretary Joynal Abedin told UNB.
President Hamid expressed gratitude to the people as well as the government of the Netherlands as the country was one of the first European countries to recognise Bangladesh after its independence.
Gerben de Jong also expressed his gratitude to the President for the cooperation he received while discharging his duties during his tenure in Bangladesh.
Both the President and the envoy expressed the hope that the bilateral relations between the two countries will be strengthened further in the days to come.
