Our target is to win gold medal: Habibul Bashar

Selector of Bangladesh Cricket team and Manager of Bangladesh Men’s Cricket team Habibul Bashar said, ” Our target is to win gold medal at the Men’s Cricket Competition in 13th South Asian (SA) Games.” The 13th South Asian Games has been taken place in Nepal.
In the Men’s Division, India, Pakistan will not take part. Besides, Afghanistan will not participate in SA Games. Thus Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives and Bhutan are taking part in the Cricket Competition. Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are favourites and Nepal, Maldives and Bhutan are weak teams.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has recruited Saif Hasan, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Nayeem Sheikh, Afif Hossain and Mehdi Hasan in the squad. Sri Lanka are the only sides, which can fight against Bangladesh.
Bashar said to the newsmen, ” Our team are strong. Sri Lankan side will may be stronger. But our aim is to clinch gold medal in this event.”
The Cricket Competition will be held on single league basis. Top two teams will play in the final on December 9.
Bangladesh will take on Maldives on December 4, face Nepal on December 6, play against Bhutan on December 7 and meet Sri Lanka on December 8.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team want to make memorable 13th South Asian (SA) Games. This is for the first time Cricket Competition for Women is included in SA Games.
Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team left the city for Nepal on Friday to take part in Women’s Cricket Competition in SA Games.
Before leaving the country prolific cricketer Jahanara Alam said to the newsmen, ” We get to play in the SA Games for the first time. We want to make memorable the 13th SA Games. I hope we shall return home after securing gold in the Cricket Competition. We shall try to give our best performance.”
