Our public servants are not public servants when abuse power against people

Cases and arrests related to freedom of expression under the Digital Security Act-2018 increased more than three times in 2020 over the previous year, London-based human rights said. Arrests and filing of cases continued under the law against people, who were mostly social media users and vocal against the government’s mishandling of Covid-19 and its failure to create enough facilities last year to protect people.
The report said at least 197 cases were recorded under the law in just ended 2020 where 368 persons, including 79 journalists, were prosecuted. In 2018 a total of 71 cases were filed against people who voiced their dissent, including journalists. Report said over 140 cases were filed by ruling party cadres, activists as well as police under new DSA law.
It is known to everybody who live in Bangladesh know how intolerant the corruption sharing government is to expose the lies of the government! Such obstruction to free flow of information has not helped the government. The government is fragile and afraid to face free election.
The government claims credit for continuing in power for twelve years. The people’s government changes on the basis of failure of the government. To remain in power for twelve years is evident enough that the people have no faith in the government. The government survives through rigged elections and by creating impunity for corruption for their support. The government takes big projects for distribution of corruption.
Corruption is strong and widely spread but the government is disorganised and in disarray. The government is mortally fearful of the people.
Need no mention that the surge in cases shows how the government is increasingly anxious to live in lies. The government officials and ministers are happy for suppressing their incompetence and going about unhindered.
As a result of massive corruption and massive abuse of power everybody in the government feels he has no accountability. Abuse of power has made life of ordinary people intolerable. But blame is ours. Our educated people in the government forget that they are our people and their victims are also our people.
So our problem is our educated public servants are our people’s oppressors against the people. To them the people’s sacrifice for creation of Bangladesh means nothing. Our fight has to be against educated public servants paid by the people but work against the people to make people’s life miserable.
The present government is completely in control of public servants. So their accountability is clear.
