Sramik Karmachari Muktijoddha Samannaya Parishad
A discussion organised by Sramik Karmachari Muktijoddha Samannaya Parishad was held recently at the Swadhinata Hall of Dhaka Reporters Unity at Segunbagicha in the city. In the discussion the speakers expressed deep condemnation and anguish over the killing of Bangladeshi nationals and foreigners by militants at a restaurant at Gulshan in the city. The Parishad adopted a resolution and announced an action programme from the function.The action programme includes holding of a press conference at Swadhinata Hall at Segunbagicha at 12 noon on July 12 and forming a human chain for one hour in front of the Jatiya Press Club from 11 am on July 13. The function was attended, among others, by Freedom Fighter Ismat Kadir Gama and labour leader ZM Quamrul Anam.
Ctg Union of Journalists
A rally organised jointly by Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ), Chittagong Press Club (CPC) , Chittagong Photojournalists Association was held in front of the Chittagong Press Club. In the rally journalist leaders called upon people to form anti-terrorist committee in every union parishad to resist militant activities. They strongly deplored terror attack killing 22 innocent people at a café in Gulshan in Dhaka. The journalist leaders expressed deep shock at the death of local and foreign citizens in the attack. The programme was addressed, among others, by Vice-Chancellor of Chittagong University Dr Iftakher Uddin Chowdhury, Chittagong Press Club (CPC) President Kalim Sarwar, Vice-President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Shahidul Alam, BFUJ Joint Secretary Tapan Chakoroborti, CUJ General Secretary Mohammad Ali, CPC General Secretary Mohsin Chowdhury and General Secretary of Chittagong TV Journalists Association Chowdhury Farid. CUJ President Reaz Haider Chowdhury
presided over the function.
