Swadhinata Shikshak Parishad

A discussion titled ‘Teachers’ role in preventing militancy’ organised by Swadhinata Shikshak Parishad was held in the auditorium of the Teachers’ Training College in the city on Wednesday. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid was present as the chief guest. While speaking Nahid urged Islamic scholars, teachers and parents to instill the spirit of Islam as the religion of peace into the students as proponents of militancy were trying to brainwash the tender aged population through its misinterpretation. “Islam never supports terrorism but a vested quarter is trying to misguide the students through its
misinterpretation. I urge you all to prevent these elements who are creating violent disputes in the name of religion,” he said. The minister said the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was relentlessly working to build a modern knowledge-based new generation having high moral values making the religious studies compulsory at the school level.
