General Secretary of Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Parishad Nirmal Kumar Chatterjee and General Secretary of Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee Advocate Kishore Ranjan Momdol in a joint statement on Thursday bitterly criticized vandalizing of Kali Goddess of the city’ Mirpur Central Temple. They urged the Government and law enforcers to nab the culprit(s) involved in the heinous crime immediatelely and give exemplary punishment. Joint General Secretary of Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee Dr. Taposh Chandra Pal and General Secretary of Dhaka North Hindu Bouddha Christian Oikya Parishad Ashim Kumar Roy Shishir visited the place of occurrence and expressed resentment over the incident.
Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote
A discussion marking the seventh death anniversary of eminent filmmaker and founder President of Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote Alamgir Kumkum organised by the jote was held at the Jatiya Press Club. Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest in the programme held on Wednesday. While speaking Hasan urged BNP leaders not to do ill politics and resort to falsehood over Begum Khaleda Zia’s health. “A physician and a nurse have been appointed fulltime for Begum Zia. In need, she is given treatment outside the jail,” he added The minister recalled the outstanding contributions of Kumkum in the cultural arena as well as the political field. Hasan also urged the cultural personalities not to practice alien culture. The function was also addressed, among others, by AL Deputy Publicity and Publication Secretary Aminul Islam Amin and Dhaka South City Unit General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad. Cultural personality Syed Hasan Imam presided over the event.
