Federation Cup Fotball: Mohammedan face Rahmatganj in opener today

Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited will face Rahmatganj MFS in the opening match of the Walton Federation Cup Football at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today. The match kicks-off at 4.00 pm. In the day’s other match, Dhaka Abahani Limited will meet Arambagh Krira Sangha at 7.30 pm at the same venue.
Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports Arif Khan Joy will inaugurate the football meet today as the chief guest while Senior Additional Director of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn will be with him as the special guest.
Marking the ensuing football competition, a press conference was held at the conference room of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) House on Thursday.
Senior Vice-President of BFF and Chairman of the Professional Football League Committee Abdus Salam Murshedy, Senior Additional Director of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn, General Secretary of BFF Md Abu Nayeem Shohag, Executive Member of BFF Shawkat Ali Khan Jahangir, Executive Member of the Federation Fazlur Rahman Babul were present at the conference.
A total of 12 teams splitting into four groups will take part in the football tournament. Dhaka Abahani Limited, Feni Soccer Club, Arambagh Krira Sangha are in Group A, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra Limited, Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra, Chittagong Abahani Limited are in Group B, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club Limited, Brothers Union Limited, Uttar Baridhara Club are in Group C, Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited, Team BJMC, Rahmatganj MFS are in Group D.
Top two teams from each group will play in the quarter-finals. The winners of the quarter-finals will get tickets of the semi-finals. The winners of the semi-finals will play in the final. The final will be held on June 26.
The budget of the tournament has been estimated at Taka forty five lakh.
The champions will be awarded Taka five lakh while the runners-up will get Taka three lakh. The each participating team will be given Taka one lakh.
The Man of the Match will get Walton Home Appliance.
The Man of the Tournament will be awarded Walton LED Television and the highest scorer will get Walton LED Television.
