Bangladesh Hawkers’ Union
A rally organised by Bangladesh Hawkers’ Union was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club on Monday. In the programme the speakers bitterly criticized eviction of hawkers from the footpath. They urged the authorities concererned to take necessary steps for rehabilitation of the hawkers before eviction. The union also brought out a procession to meet its demands. The function was addressed, among others, by labour leader and freedom fighter Manjurul Ahsan Khan, Executive President of the union Murshiqul Islam Shimul, its Organising Secretary Mohammad Jashim, Assistant Secretary Mohammad Golap, Finance Secretary Mohammad Majid and its Joint Secretary Hazrat Ali. President of the union Abdul Hashim Kabir presided over the event.
Battery Manufacturers’ & Exporters’ Association
Battery Manufacturers’ and Exporters’ Association demanded an industrial zone for producing environment friendly battery. The association made the demand on Monday at a meeting with Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun at the Industries Ministry in the city, said a press release. Humayun said the government is providing all sorts of support to protect the interest of the country’s battery manufacturing factories. “The government is conducting mobile court against the illegal battery factories,” he added. The function was attended among others, by President of the association Munawar Misbah Moin and its General Secretary Shahjahan Kabir.
