A discussion on ‘Women’s Role in Parliamentary Democracy’ organized by Jago Bangla Foundation was held at the Jatiya Press Club. Awami League Presidium Member Mohammed Nasim was present as the chief guest in the programme held on Saturday. While speaking Nasim urged BNP MPs to join parliament and play their due role. About women empowerment, he said, women were empowered during the tenure of present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as she always works relentlessly for women empowerment. “Women empowerment in Bangladesh has become an example to the world as there are 50 reserved women seats in the Jatiya Sangsad,” he added. The function was also addressed, among others, by Dhaka City South AL General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad, Jubo Mohila League General Secretary Apu Ukil and Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote General Secretary Arun Sarkar Rana. Vice- Chancellor of World University Bangladesh Prof Dr Abdul Mannan Choudhury presided over the event.
