Bangladesh Hawker Sangram Parishad

A meeting organised by Bangladesh Hawker Sangram Parishad was held at its office in the city’s Bangabandhu Avenue on Tuesday. In the programme the speakers demanded extortion-free environment. They said during the month of holy Ramzan a group of unholy people extort money from the poor hawkers. They urged the government to take necessary step to stop it. The function was addressed, among others, by Member Secretary of the organisation Sekandar Hayat, its central leaders Kamal Siddiqui and Khokon Majumder. Convenor of the parishad Abul Hosain presided over the event.

Jatiya Mohila Sangstha

A discussion organised by Jatiya Mohila Sangstha, Rangpur Unit was held after providing training to the female entrepreneurs under the ‘Developing women entrepreneurs in economic empowerment project .’ Speaker of the Jatiya Sangshad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, MP was present as the chief guest in the programme held recently in Pirganj Upazial parishad auditorium in Rangpur. While speaking the Speaker said the skilled women could create their own workplaces to become self-reliant if they got opportunity. “All of the women should be provided with necessary training to turn them into skilled human workforce for involving them with the mainstream of the economy for ensuring economic empowerment of the women,” she said. “If the women get the opportunity at the policy-making level, they will be empowered to play special role for contributing to the advancement of the society. If a woman becomes economically self-reliant, the society and state will be benefited,” she said. The function was also addressed, among others, by its Executive Director Jahanara Parvin and Project Director Anwara Begum. Chairman of the organisation Prof Mamtaz Begum Advocate presided over the event.
