Biplabi Garments Sramik Sanghati
The council of Biplabi Garments Sramik Sanghati was inaugurated in front of the Jatiya Press Club on Friday. In the inaugural programme the speakers urged the government and owners of the garments industries to fix Taka 16,000 as minimum salary for each garments employee. They also called upon garment employees to be united to resist sexual harassment of women employees of the garments industries. The function was addressed, among others, by General Secretary of Bangladesh Revolutionary Workers Party Saiful Haque, Member Secretary of Biplabi Sramik Sanghati Abu Hasan Tipu, President of Sramajibi Nari Moitree Bahnishikha Jamali and General Secretary of Garments Textile Workers Federation Saiful Islam. President of the organisation Mir Mofazzal Hossain Moshtak presided over the event.

A regional tree Olympiad was held in Rajshahi aims at raising awareness about tree and environment among the students. As part of this continuous process, 12th phase of primary selection was held at Madhabpur High School under Paba Upazila in Rajshahi with a festive mood. Bangladesh Resource Center for Indigenous Knowledge (BARCIK) and Barind Educational and Cultural Diversity Protection Center (BECDPC) jointly organized the extraordinary Olympiad recently. School Headmaster Asgar Hossain, Assistant Teachers Rezaul Karim, Md Kamruzzaman and Shefali Begum, BARCIK Regional Coordinator Shahidul Islam and Olympiad Committee President Jinatun Nessa addressed the session. A total of 75 students took part in the first round test consisting of extempore speech on trees and the environment and a 20-mark written examination. Of them, 10 students qualified for the final round and they were given ‘Yes’ cards. The Olympiad was held in two categories- category ‘A’ for students from class six to eight and ‘ B’ for secondary, higher secondary and graduate students.
