Biggan Andolon Mancha

Science enthusiasts paid rich tributes to Bengali physicist Satyendra Nath Bose marking his 44th death anniversary organised by Biggan Andolon Mancha, Narayanganj district unit. In the programme held in the town on Sunday the speakers recalled his contribution to the arena of science as a prime research colleague of Albert Einstein. He joined the physics department of Dhaka University in 1921 just after it was established and took the lead in setting up new departments, laboratories and libraries to teach advanced science courses for the subsequent 25 years. They said the teachings of Satyendra Nath Bose can create science oriented people in the country. The function was addressed, among others by, Abu Naem Khan, Sultana Akhter, Enan Rahman and Nasima Akhter. President of the organisation Abdul Khalek presided over the event.

Jatiya Sramik Jote

The council of Jatiya Sramik Jote, central committee and also labour front of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) was held at the Central Shaheed Minar in the city. Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu was present as the chief guest in the programme held recently. While speaking Inu said that JSD would continue the struggle for establishing socialism.
The minister expressed solidarity with the demands of the labour leaders who had demanded formation of a Wage Commission for labourers. He said establishing socialism we can attain peace and prosperity, build militants free society. Inu said that the fruits of independence must reach every household in the country. “The poor should have access to adequate food, health and other amenities of life.The slums should be replaced by multi-storied buildings,” he added. The minister emphasized on continuing the battle against Razakars, militants. He said socialism is our creed and it is the only way that can liberate the working class from wage slavery. Inu called upon labourers to fight for socialism and unite under its banner.
