BD Newspaper Workers’ Fed
Bangladesh Newspaper Workers’ Federation (BNWF) and Bangladesh Federal Union of Newspaper Press Workers (BFUNPW) congratulated Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for declaring the much waited 9th wage board for the media employees. The organisations also congratulated Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu and State Minister for Information Tarana Halim in a joint statement issued after holding a joint meeting recently in the city. The meeting was addressed, among others, by BFUNPW President Alamgir Hossain Khan, Secretary General Md Kamaluddin, Joint Secretary General Mohammad Ali Khan Opu, BNWF President Motiur Rahman Talukder and Secretary General Md Khairul Islam.
Swadhinata Parishad
A discussion organised by Swadhinata Parishad was held in Dhaka Reporters’ Unity auditorium. Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest in the programme. While speaking Hasan said there is no scope to go beyond the constitution for a polls-time government.”BNP can give a framework for an election-time government, but there is no scope to go beyond constitution,” he told. Hasan said BNP has turned into a ‘toothless venomous snake’ after the party failed to foil the previous parliament election. “The venomous teeth of BNP got broken when they were out to thwart the previous Jatiya Sangsad election,” he added. He said BNP should observe January 5 as a ‘day of suicide’, adding if the party again wants to foil the next election, their act of killing themselves will go to the peak

. The function was also addressed, among others, by Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku, MP, Jatiya Sramik League President Shukkur Mahmud, AL leader Balaram Poddar,Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote General Secretary Arun Sarker Rana and organisation’s General Secretary Shahdat Hossain Tayel.
