Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee
A views exchange meeting between journalists and Mahanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee was held at the conference room of Shri Shri Dhakeshwari Jatiya Mandir in the city on Thursday. In the programme the leaders of the committee demanded recovering of grabbed lands of the Mandir. General Secretary of the committee Advocate Shyamal Kumar Roy read out the written statement in the meeting. The function was attended, among others, by Prof Dr. Nim Chandra Bhoumik, journalist Swapon Kumar Saha, former Secretary Shaylen Majumder, Dr Chhaya Bhattachariya, Padmabati Devi, journalist Pronab Saha, Dr Chandranath Poddar and Purabi Majumder. President of the organisation DN Chatterjee presided over the event.
Jahangirnagar Cine Society
A 10-member new executive body of Jahangirnagar Cine Society, a film based cultural organisation of Jahangirnagar University was announced for the next one year. Risan Ahmed and Roudranil Ahmed of Philosophy department were made President and General Secretary respectively of the new committee. The society is working to make skilled manufacturers and crew through regular short film production and film related study. Chief Adviser of this organisation Professor Kabirul Bashar announced the new committee recently at the annual meeting of executive committee at Teacher Student Center (TSC) of the university. The other members of the committee are: Vice President Mazharul Islam Shaikat, Production Secretary Kazal Islam, Treasurer Tagar Devnath Shouvo, Workshop Secretary Fahim Faisal, Exhibition Secretary Rafiquil Islam Manik, Office Secretary Rahjit Das Chowhan, Library Secretary Vabna Mukharjee and Publicity Secretary Sadat Mohammad Pal.
