Tamaddun Majlish

A discussion marking death anniversary of Nawab Salimullah organised by Tamaddun Majlish was held at its office in the city’s Malibag on Saturday. In the programme the speakers recalled the contributions of Nawab Salimullah. While speaking the speakers said Salimullah dreamt to establish Dhaka University (DU) first and he donated land for establishing DU. Salimullah played pioneering role for the advancement of Muslims in education, they added. The function was addressed, among others, by language veteran and journalist Prof Abdul Gafur, General Secretary of the organisation Shahabuddin Khan, Dr Muhammad Siddique, Ashraful Islam, Muhammad Tawhid Khan and Jubaer Islam. Mahanagar unit President of Tamaddun Majlish, Mohammad Abdul Hannan presided over the event.

Jatiya Mahila Sangstha

The progress and evaluation meeting on the development projects of Jatiya Mahila Sangstha (JMS) was held in the conference room of Cox’s Bazar Circuit House on Saturday. State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki was present as the chief guest. While speaking Chumki hoped that the ongoing projects under her ministry would be completed successfully with the cooperation of the local public representatives. “The local public representatives can evaluate the works of the projects properly as they know well the beneficiaries of the projects,” she added. Urging all to perform their works properly, Chumki said, “Negligence in the project works would not be tolerated.” The function was also addressed, among others, by JMS Executive Director Jahanara Begum, Additional Director of Project-3 Anwara Begum and Additional Secretary of Totthya Apa Project Mina Parvin. Cox’s Bazar district unit Chairman of the sangstha Kaniz Fatema Ahmed presided over the event.
