A rally organised by Sangbadik-Karmachari-Sramik Oikya Parishad (SKSOP) was held in front of Jatiya Press Club on Monday. In the rally the leaders of the parishad demanded formation of the 9th Wage Board for journalists, employees and workers of newspapers as well as electronic and online media within a month. The leaders warned that they would be compelled to go for a greater movement unless their demand is met within the time. They said the media workers have become victims of disparity due to increase of salary and allowance in different tiers of the government including public servants as well as members of the judiciary and parliament. So, it’s necessary to raise the salary and allowances of the media workers to remove this disparity, they said. The rally was addressed, among others, by former President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, BFUJ Secretary General Omar Faruque and Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) President Shaban Mahmud. President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Newspaper Press Workers Alamgir Hossain presided over the programme.
