Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal
A representatives’ meeting of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), Dhaka city unit was held at the party office in the city on Saturday on the occasion of 45th founding anniversary of the party scheduled to be held tomorrow. Information Minister and President of the party Hasanul Haq Inu was present at the programme as the chief guest. While speaking Inu said that Khaleda Zia’s tears would not legitimize her for democracy, wash away the anguish of those who were burnt alive, Zia’s seizure of power illegally, military rule and killings. Criticizing the public crying of Khaleda Zia in the court on Thursday, Inu said that in the past BNP had tried to lobby for legitimization for democracy now it was resorting to winning sympathy by crying in public. He further said without disassociating from the war criminals and killers, without stopping the conspiracy to subvert the upcoming polls, completing the jail sentences for killing people, it was pointless to cry and gain public sympathy.
Autotempoo Transport Workers Federation
A discussion marking Road Safety Day organised by Bangladesh Autotempoo Transport Workers Federation was held in the auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity. In the programme held recently the speakers stressed upon training for transport workers to ensure safe road. They also called upon to withdraw ban on plying of autorickshaw and autotempoo on the highway. Representatives of different districts attended the function to discuss their problems. Vice-President of the federation Mohammad Ful Miah Bhuiyan presided over the event. The function was addressed, among others, by Parliamentary Standing Committee Member on Road Transport and Bridges Ministry Nazmul Haque Prodhan, MP, labour leader Abul Hosain, former President of Dhaka Union of Journalists Elahi Newaz Khan and former students’ leader Jayed Iqbal Khan and Engineer Dabirul Ahmed.
