A discussion organised by Bangladesh Swatantra Ebtedayee Madrasha Shikshak Samity was held in the auditorium of Bangladesh Medical Association in the city’s Topkhana Road on Thursday to accord reception to Swadhinata Shikshak Parishad General Secretary Shahjahan Alam Saju on his election for the third time as the Member-Secretary of the Teachers Employees Welfare Trust of the Education Ministry.Minister for Liberation War Affairs AKM Mozammel Haque was present as the chief guest. While speaking Mozammel said that a bill imposing a ban on the politics of Jamaat-e-Islami will be placed in the coming budget session of the Jatiya Sangsad (Parliament) that begins on June 1. The programme was also addressed, among others, by Awami League Organising Secretary Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Swapan, Director General of the Islamic Foundation Shamim Md Afzal and Secretary General of the organisation Shamsul Alam. President of the organisation SM Jainul Abedin Jehadi presided over the function.
Dhaka Union of Journalists
A meeting organised by a faction of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) was held at the union office of Jatiya Press Club on Thursday. In the meeting DUJ leaders demanded formation of 9th Wage Board immediately for the journalists and employees working in the mass media. The leaders called upon all journalists and employees to join the grand rally scheduled to be held on May 23 next to meet the demand. The event was addressed, among others by DUJ General Secretary Sohel Haider Chowdhury, its Vice-President Atiqur Rahman Chowdhury, former General Secretary of the union Quddus Afrad and Joint Secretary Shahana Sheuly. President of the organisation Shaban Mahmud presided over the programme.
