Amader Sangha
A human chain organised by ‘Amader Sangha’ , a socio-cultural organisation was held in front of the National Press Club in the city recently with its President Baharane Sultan Bahar in the chair. In the programme the speakers demanded to release former minister and valiant freedom fighter Major (retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed Bir Bikram. They also demanded to withdraw false cases filed against him. It was addressed, among others, by Major Gen (retd) Mohammad Ibrahim, Sadik Sabuj, philanthropist Enamul Haque, Mahibullah Nagor, Golam Masud Khan Lablu, Adviser of the organisation Mia Mostofa Kamal and Mansur Ahmed. Other central leaders of the organisation including Md Shamim, Md Hasan and Jharna Rani were also present on the occasion.
Democratic Lawyers Association of Bangladesh
An emergency meeting organised by Democratic Lawyers Association of Bangladesh (DLAB) was held in the Room No 124 of Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association Bhaban in the city recently with its Vice-President Advocate Makbul Ahmed in the chair. In the meeting the speakers bitterly criticized attacks on religious minority communities. They also urged the government to give exemplary punishment to the perpetrators in the post-polls violence. It was addressed, among others, by Vice-President of the central committee of DLAB Sheikh Akhtarul Islam, Assistant General Secretary MA Taher, Anwar Hossain Reza, Hasan Tarif Sohel and Ainunnahar Siddika Lipi.
