Jatiya Muktijoddha Samannay Committee
A rally organised by Jatiya Muktijoddha Samannay Committee was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club on Thursday in protest against hartal called by Jamaat-Shibir. Awami League Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud was present as the chief guest. While speaking Hasan said BNP proved its political bankruptcy by supporting Jamaat’s hartal. “BNP has proved its politics is run by Jamaat’s politics,” he added. Hasan said the people of Bangladesh boycotted the hartal called by Jamaat as the hartal was not observed anywhere in the country. In his speech Food Minister Qamrul Islam said BNP wanted to create anarchy in the country again by supporting the hartal of Jamaat and the perpetrators will not be successful. About the Rohingya issue, he said when the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attained admiration by giving shelter to persecuted Rohingya people, Jamaat called hartal to create instability in the country. The function was also addressed, among others, by former State Minister for Home Shamsul Haque Tuku, former State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Captain (Retd) AB Tajul Islam, Awami League leader Balaram Podder and Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote General Secretary Arun Sarker Rana.

The 48th founding anniversary of Jatiya Sramik League was observed on Thursday across the country in a befitting manner through different programmes. Marking the day, Jatiya Sramik League chalked out elaborate programmes. Leaders and activists of the organisation placed wreaths at the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi at 8.30 am. The function was attended, among others, by Awami League Labour Affairs Secretary Habibur Rahman, Jatiya Sramik League President Shukkur Mahmud, General Secretary Sirajul Islam, Executive President Fazlul Haque Mintu, Vice-President Zahirul Islam Chowdhury and Joint General Secretary Humayun Kabir. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman established the labour organization, Jatiya Sramik League in 1969.
