Eastern University
A reception programme of successful students of HSC 2017 organised by Eastern University (EU) was held at the EU premises yesterday. About 800 students from all over the Bangladesh participated in the ceremony. Nurul Islam Nahid, MP, Education Minister was present as the Chief Guest in the programme . Engr. Kh. Mesbah Uddin Ahmed, Chairman, Board of Trustees, EU was present as the guest of honor. The programme was chaired by the VC of Eastern University, Prof Dr. Abdur Rab while Md. Habibur Rahman, Managing Director, Al-Arafah Islami Bank Ltd; Members of BoT of EU Abul Quasem Haider, Md. Azizul Islam, Abul Khair Chowdhury, Prof. Dr. ABM Shahidul Islam, Sk. Saydur Rahman, Anwar Hossain Chowdhury and Md. Ali Azzam were present as Special Guest. Abul Basher Khan, Registrar , EU delivered the welcome speech. Earlier, the minister participated in EU’s Roundtable discussions with the Principal of the 80 selected colleges titled “Role of the College Principal for the improvement of higher education”. In his speech the Chief Guest said that today’s children are our future and architect of Digital Bangladesh. So, they need to be nurtured properly. VC of EU said, education is the key to development and no nation can ascend to the pinnacle of development without being properly educated. He also mentioned that Eastern University has been taking part in the nation building process by imparting quality higher education to its students since its inception. All guests of the seminar thanked Eastern University for this noble initiative. Mohammad Imtiaj, Director of Public Relations, EU and Jamal Uddin, Deputy Director and Head of OSA, EU conducted the seminar. Members of Board of Trustees, Eastern University; Principals of Colleges, Journalists from different print and electronic media; Successful Students & their Guardians; teachers and officials of EU were present in the ceremony. The programme was ended with vote thanks from the Treasurer of EU Mr. Muhammed Siddique Hossain.
Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP)
Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) organised a roundtable discussion on “Capacity Building for Sustainable Development: Role of Universities” by the initiative of the Department of Environmental Science under the Faculty of Science and Technology at Central Conference Room of its campus in Mirpur Cantonment, Dhaka on Tuesday evening. The Chairman of UGC Prof Abdul Mannan was present in the programme as the Chief Guest while BUP VC Maj Gen Md Salahuddin Miaji, rcds, psc was present as the Special Guest in the discussion. Renowned scientist and Executive Director of Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies (BCAS) Dr. Atiq Rahman presented the keynote paper. Brigadier General Akhtaruzzaman Siddique, PBGM psc, te: Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology presided over the programme.
