Jatiya Ganotantrik League
A discussion marking third death anniversary of language veteran, former President of Dhaka Mahanagar Awami League and journalist Bahauddin Chowdhury organised by Jatiya Ganotantrik League was held in the auditorium of Bangladesh Shishu Kalyan Parishad in the city’s Topkhana Road on Monday. In the discussion the speakers recalled the contributions of Bahauddin. They urged Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to give Ekushey Padak and Swadhinata Padak-2017 to Bahauddin. The event was addressed, among others, by former Secretary historian Sirajuddin Ahmed, Senior Vice-President of Bangabandhu Jubo Parishad Kazi Humayun Kabir, General Secretary of Jatiya Ganotantrik League Samir Ranjon Das, General Secretary of People’s Democratic Party Prof Siddiqur Rahman and General Secretary of Bangabandhu Adarsha Bastobayon Parishad Uttam Chakravarty Kazol. President of the organisation MA Jalil presided over the programme. After the discussion the participants prayed for the salvation of the departed soul.
Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee
Nominations for the Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee (BRAC) Manthan Digital Innovation Award (BMDIA) will close on June 10. The interested persons or organisations have been requested to register for the nomination by the date. BRAC launched the BMDIA Award for the first time in the country. The Award will promote the use of technology for the development and focuses on newer digital and mobile innovations. Manthan Award will also encourage and recognize the contributions of individuals and organisations in the field of ICT for development. The award aims to create an environment for the young innovators to make innovations that can have a positive impact on the most marginalised people of the country. From this year, Bangladeshi applicants will be able to participate in the Manthan Award in India by winning the BRAC Manthan Digital Innovation Award in Bangladesh. The nine categories of the award are: e-business and financial inclusion, e-education, learning and employment, e-agriculture and ecology, e-governance and institutions, e-health, e-women, inclusion and empowerment, e-news, journalism and entertainment, e-culture, heritage and tourism, and m-content.
