Bangladesh Hawker Sangram Parishad
A rally organised by Bangladesh Hawker Sangram Parishad was held in front of the Jatiya Press Club on Tuesday. In the programme the leaders of the parishad bitterly criticized killing of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. They demanded intervention of the United Nations to stop the genocide in Myanmar. They also demanded rehabilitation of evicted hawkers immediately formulating national policy for hawkers rehabilitation. The function was addressed, among others, by Member Secretary of the organisation Sekender Hayat, its central leaders Arif Chowdhury, Abul Kalam Jewel, Alamgir Talukder, Jashim Uddin, Abul Khaer, Beauty Akhter, Iman Uddin and Mohammad Hasan. Labour leader Abul Hosain presided over the event.
Bangladesh Legal Aid & Services Trust
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Jahangirnagar University (JU) and Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST) on providing legal aid to the marginalized people of the country. JU Treasurer Professor Manjurul Huq and Trusty Advocate of the BLAST ZI Khan signed the MoU on behalf of their respective sides at a function held recently at the council room on the JU campus. JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Farzana Islam and Law and Justice Department Chairman KM Sazzad Mohsin were present at the MoU signing ceremony, among others.
Under the MoU, teachers and students of the university would be allowed to facilitate legal aid to the marginalized communities. The MoU will remain valid for the next four years.
