Bangladesh National Awami Party
A memorial meeting marking 69th birth anniversary of former minister and chairman of NAP Shafiqul Ghani Swapon organised by Bangladesh National Awami Party-Bangladesh NAP, Dhaka Mahanagar was held at Jadu Mia Auditorium in the city’s Nayapalton on Monday. In the programme the speakers bitterly criticized killing of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. They urged all irrespective of party affiliation to be united against Myanmar government to end this crisis. The speakers also urged the Myanmar government to bring back Rohingya refugees immediately. The function was addressed, among others, by Secretary General of Bangladesh NAP M Golam Mostofa Bhuiyan, Joint Secretary General of NDP Mohammad Shamsul Alam, NAP Joint Secretary General Swapon Kumar Saha, its Organizing Secretary Mohammad Kamal Bhuiyan, City Member Secretary Shahidunnabi Dablu, Joint Convenor Principal Nazrul Islam and its Rajbari district Convenor Sohel Raihan. City Convenor of the organisation Syed Shajahan Saju presided over the event. The speakers also demanded UN intervention to stop genocide in Myanmar. A doa mahfil was also held on the occasion.
Barind Edn Culture & Diversity Protection Centre
A day-long youth campaign for protection of renewable energies and environment organised jointly by Barind Education Culture and Diversity Protection Centre (BECDPC) and Bangladesh Resource Center for Indigenous Knowledge (BARCIK), a collective initiative for participatory research, policy advocacy and campaign was held recently on Rajshahi College campus. In the programme the speakers opined substantial and sustainable protection of environment and natural resources together with promotion and using of renewable energies is very important for protecting both climate and life. They viewed there is an enormous scope of reducing the gradually mounting pressure on fossil fuel through boosting use of renewable energies in both rural and urban areas. Time has come to protect the natural resources including the wetlands and water bodies for restoring green atmosphere. The speakers emphasised the need for wide-ranging use of energy efficient products to reduce the existing pressure on power demands.The function was addressed, among others, by Rajshahi College Principal Prof Habibur Rahman, BARCIK Barind Regional Coordinator Shahidul Islam, BECDPC President Zawad Ahmed, its General Secretary Uzzal Hossain and executive members Jarina Khatun, Afifa Tazrin, Abdus Sobhan and Afifa Tasnim.
