A meeting organised by Workers Party of Bangladesh was held at Swadhinata Hall in the city’s Segunbagicha on Friday. President of the organisation and Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon was present at the meeting as the chief guest. While speaking Menon called for maintaining mutual respect among the three organs of the state – the executive, the judiciary and the legislature. “The parliament framed the constitution. Raising questions about the intention of parliament is tantamount to questioning the intention of the constitution,” he said. Menon said respect for judiciary will reduce if parliament is demeaned as the parliament has framed the constitution. About BNP’s activities following the court verdict on the 16th amendment to the constitution, Menon said they want to create distance between the judiciary and the executive. The meeting was attended, among others, by Workers Party leaders Nur Ahmed Bakul, Quamrul Ahsan, Kishore Roy, Shahana Ferdousi Lucky, Jahangir Alam Fazlu and Murshida Aktar Nahar.
