Professional Medical Technologists and Pharmacists Council
A procession organised by Professional Medical Technologists and Pharmacists Council was brought out in the city on Friday to meet its various demands including stoppage of Medical Technology Course conducted illegally by Technical Education Board, introduction of internship allowance for the medical technologists and pharmacists and recognition of respective works of diploma holders of Laboratory Medicine, Radiology and Imaging and Radiotherapy. The leaders of the council urged Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim to meet their demands without any delay, otherwise they will forge greater movement to meet their demands.
Green Mind Society
A rally organised by Green Mind Society (GMS), a platform to work for better environment was held on Friday in front of Jatiya Press Club in the city. In the rally the speakers demanded of the government to stop food adulteration in the country. GMS President Amir Hossain Masud, Vice-President Asgar Hossain, General Secretary Faruk Hossain and Bangladesh Paribesh Andolan (BAPA) Joint Secretary Humayun Kabir Sumon joined the rally, among others. The speakers said it is our social responsibility to create wide-scale awareness to create safe food networks in the country as adulterators are using chemicals in food to make high profits harming our lives. Meagre punishment is not enough for those who are involved in adulteration of foods and the government should take stern action against them, they added. According to World Health Organisation (WHO), around 4,20,000 people die each year eating contaminated food globally.
Campaign for Good Governance
A human chain organised by Campaign for Good Governance was formed in front of Jatiya Press Club yesterday. More than 100 like-minded people from different like-minded organisations and networks joined the human chain to meet its various demands. The speakers urged UN climate treaty to take proper action to address the influence of the fossil fuel industry on climate policy. They also urged the government to launch a global investigation into industry interference at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
