Bangladesh Girl Guides Assoc
Tree plantation campaign 2017 organised by Bangladesh Girl Guides Association, Milestone College branch, Dhaka was held at Milestone College’s Diabari own campus on the nineteenth instant. Principal of Milestone College Prof Md. Shahidul Islam, Deputy National Commissioner of Bangladesh Girl Guides Association (Programme) Prof Dr. Yasmin Ahmed, Regional Commissioner of the capital region Rawshan Islam, member of the capital region Umme Kulsum Nargis were present on the occasion. Incharge of the Bangladesh Girl Guides Association Milestone College branch Assistant Professor Saheda Begum, Member of the Bangladesh Girl Guides Association Milestone College branch Lecturer Jannatul Ferdous and Senior teacher Hafiza Khanam were also present in the tree plantation campaign. The members of the Bangladesh Girl Guides Association Milestone College branch planted herbs, flowers, fruits and other species of trees around the campus of the college.
Population Services & Training Centre
A workshop on ‘Prevention Violence against Women and Women Rights’ organised by Population Services and Training Centre (PSTC) under its ‘She-Can Project’ in association with UK-Aid and Action Aid Bangladesh was held recently at a hotel in Rajshahi. In the programme the speakers underscored the need for collective efforts to put an end to violence against women in the society. They viewed that all should raise voice and work together to address the social problem collectively as only the government or any other single organisation cannot bring any positive result in this regard. The speakers mentioned various forms of violence against women and put a set of recommendations on how to combat the social crimes. Terming the violence against women as a major violation of human rights the speakers said the society must be freed from this curse to attain the expected goals.The function was addressed, among others, by Assistant Commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Suhrawardi Hossain and Chief Health Officer of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Dr AFM Anjuman Ara Begum. Ward Councilor of RCC Bilkish Banu presided over the event.
