A discussion marking the 42nd martyrdom anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Mourning Day organised jointly by Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) and Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) was held at the Jatiya Press Club on Saturday. Prime Minister’s Media Adviser Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury was present as the chief guest. While speaking Iqbal Sobhan suggested for constituting the 9th Wage Board immediately to meet demand of the journalists. He said Bangabandhu had formulated a law to constitute the wage board for protecting the rights of the journalists. The nation will always remember the contribution of Bangabandhu to ensuring the dignity of journalists and media personalities. The function was addressed, among others, by BFUJ President Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul, Secretary General Omar Faruque, DUJ General Secretary Sohel Haider Chowdhury and former DUJ General Secretary Quddus Afrad. Journalists’ leaders said they would take to the streets to press home their demand for constituting the 9th Wage Board. DUJ President Shaban Mahmood presided over the event.
Bangladesh Psychological Assoc
A seminar on ‘Problems and Solutions of Psychology Study at Higher Secondary Level’ organised by Bangladesh Psychological Association (BPA) was held at Teachers’ Training College auditorium at Dhanmondi in the city on Friday. Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid was present as the chief guest in the programme. While speaking Nahid asked psychologists to come forward for identifying the pertaining areas of psychology as they could play an important role in developing the country. The minister said psychologists can also contribute to psychological development of children and solving their problems. They can help detecting autistic children at school level and assist them in their mental development, he added. The function was addressed, among others, by Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Division Sohrab Hossain, BPA Vice-President and senior Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources Dr Zafar Ahmed Khan, Director General of Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Prof SM Wahiduzzaman. BPA General Secretary Dr M Shamsuddin Elias read out the key-note paper.
